While college is a time for growth and exploration, don’t forget you’re here for an education.
Meet with an academic advisor to make sure you’re taking the right classes in a time frame to graduate and don’t neglect your professors. Students who attend office hours and build a relationship with faculty are more likely to feel comfortable asking questions in class, get extra help, and get recommendations for internships.
Once the initial excitement of welcome week wears off, students realize that college is long. Don’t give up! Keep studying and take care of yourself.
Take advantage of the resources on campus, like health centers, guidance and mentoring, career services, and diversity offices.
Remember, you deserve to be here just as much as anyone else.
Connecting with others opens you up to possibilities you may never have known existed otherwise. Most campuses will have multiple ways to get involved.
You could join a student organization, find a study group, or travel abroad as part of an exchange program.
While you’re connecting, don’t forget to look for opportunities for leadership, growth, and mentorship.
Success in college comes down to three things: planning for the work, doing the work, and asking for help when needed. We’ll help you learn to focus, survive, and connect for college success.
